When I heard about the bru-ha-ha over the anti-colonial views instilled in President Obama by his father (a la Dinesh D’Souza and Newt Gingrich), my skin literally crawled.
For anyone who reads this post, I'd LOVE to hear from you if you think this is the same approach political pundits should take when my OWN son reaches the age for running for public office (should he choose to).
I mean seriously, his father is a naturalized US citizen now, but he was raised in India. And his parents were directly affected by Partition. Will this assumedly rub off on my son?
And speaking of anti-colonial (ahem) can we say "American REVOLUTIONARY war"?
Wasn't this country CREATED on the ultimate anti-colonial stance?
Okay, sorry to the religiotti out there who'll read this, but....JESUS CHRIST, people, can I ask you to give this a rest?
Seriously, I think this is what Jesus WOULD do if he came down and personally addressed the insanity of this newest anti-Obama sentiment.
Seriously.
Peace
A Pink American
Remember, Gingrich also said that being poor was a lifestyle choice, and that anyone who was poor and wanted to become rich could get on his laptop...etc. Probably Jesus said the same thing in the Bible, but I've just never read that section. It makes you wonder which side Gingrich would have been on in 1776.
ReplyDeleteYes, which side indeed!
ReplyDeleteGingrich is really just the Grinch with a few letters moved around.
Who knew Dr. Seuss would control such an out of control character?
Comparing Gingrich to the Grinch gives the Grinch a bad name. After all, the Grinch's heart grew three sizes one day. And Gingrich... does he even have a heart?
ReplyDeleteI would like to see what Dr. Seuuss would do with the name Newt... Is that how it's spelled? I am Canadian after all :)
